Complex interface work

UX / HCI
What do your users want? How can you be sure? Are you solving a real problem? Can you do it better? A decent UI is table-stakes. User Experience is the practice of understanding not only what your product does or how it looks, but how it fits into the lives

UX and HCI work is about finding the user model that threads a needle between technical possibility, social responsibility and business constraints. I cannot post the design artifacts from this work online, but here are some "end states" from complex work I led the last few years at VRChat:

This work on social systems in particular has been a special interest for me for more than 15 years:

Multi‑disciplinary collaborations

All of my best work is collaborative. I particularly enjoy applying design strategies to the development of unique experiences for novice and non-technical stakeholders. Much of my work has been done in the academic, art and performance contexts where, in addition to traditional UX and UI design, we need to account for particular audiences and contexts that suit a performance mode.

Artifacts that demonstrate process and outcomes

In addition to design, I am a full-stack developer and often carry the process from concept all the way through to implementation.
